"If we approach nature and the environment without… openness to awe and wonder, if we no longer speak the language of fraternity and beauty in our relationship with the world, our attitude will be that of masters, consumers, ruthless exploiters, unable to set limits on Their immediate needs.

By contrast, if we feel intimately united with all that exists, then sobriety and care will well up spontaneously."

Pope Francis, The Laudato Si

The wealth of traditional knowledge, skills, and cultural identity embedded in the Mediterranean Diet continues to grow even after we’ve marked the 10th anniversary of its appointment as a UNESCO Intangible World Heritage.

To build on this veritable laboratory of land and marine biodiversity, we inaugurated the Paideia Campus. Located in Pollica, Cilento, the capital of the Mediterranean Diet, this cultural project has its origins in the 6th century BC and intersects multiple disciples.

It is here in the heart of the Mediterranean where you can learn a new type of sociality and live the concept of integral ecology, a regenerative approach to face the transition necessary to achieve the Goals of the 2030 Agenda, in lifestyle and development models of which the Mediterranean Diet is the most concrete example.

“Pollica is an extremely symbolic place, not only is it the UNESCO capital of the Mediterranean Diet, but in this place we realize that the 2,500 years of history and a biodiversity unique in the world, teaches us those fundamental elements that the sustainable development goals tell us with captivating graphics but which here, in reality. We must put man and the environment back into balance and approach the sustainable development goals in an integral way, thinking from economic, social, human, cultural, and environmental points of view, through education, innovation, and new sociality. We will do it starting from the Paideia Campus in Pollica.”
